Fantastic Flora and Fauna Event: Event Tips

The following tips and tricks for the event were provided by u/WWrth on Reddit:

  • Save 3-4 silver keys for the special 7km portkeys. You will need these to fill out the registry page as well.
  • Save 2-3 2km portkeys for a quick unlock to complete one of the tasks.
  • DO NOT waste higher tier potions (Dawdle Draughts and Potent Estimulo) on the unicorns and buckbeaks. If the last event is anything to go by, you will see plenty.
  • Runestones and portkeys from the last event did not disappear from inventory after the event.

We will update this event guide as and when new information becomes available!

Wizards Unite Fortress Guide; Wizarding Challenges

Welcome, fellow wizard, to our Wizards Unite Fortress Guide!

This guide will teach you all about Fortresses in Wizards Unite, including how to take them on, how runestones work, battle strategies, chamber enemies and more.

If you’re brand new to the game, we would recommend checking out our beginners guide to get yourself familiar with the games features before diving into our more detailed articles.

Wizards Unite Fortresses

Fortresses are where Wizarding Challenges take place within Wizards Unite; they are the tall, imposing castle-like structures on your game map. Fortresses can be taken on by solo players and as a team.

Fortress Lobby
Up to five players can team up to take on a fortress.

Here, you must take on fortress chambers, each with a varied level of difficulty and a variety of enemies/foes. Up to 5 players can enter the fortress as a team and battle their way through the fortress chambers.

The higher the floor you face, the bigger the rewards you will receive. However, the higher you go in the fortress, the more difficult the wizarding challenge will become.

Before you enter a fortress, you should ensure that you have a large amount of spell energy to use. You can find the best places to get spell energy from our guide.

How To Enter A Fortress

Runestones

To enter a fortress, you need to use a Runestone. Runestones are rewarded to you every time you ‘rank up’ a registry family category by returning foundables.

What Runestone you use will determine the type of rewards you receive when completing a fortress level. Using a higher level runestone will give you better rewards, but will also mean you face more difficult enemies with higher HP.

Runestones
Runestones can be gained from registry treasure trunks and the in-game store.

Runestones can also be purchased from the in-game shop, Diagon Alley.

If you want to leave a fortress lobby for any reason, you can do so and the runestone you chose will be returned to you.

Difficulty Rating

When you first enter a fortress lobby, you will spot a number in the top left corner of the screen. This is the difficulty rating of the fortress chamber you are about to enter. The higher the score, the more difficult it will be.

The level of difficulty is determined by how many players there are in the team, the level of the fortress chamber you’re attempting, and the level of the runestones being used by team members.

The game will recommend a Profession grade you should be on the lobby screen before you select a fortress chamber.

Taking On A Fortress

Strategic Spells

Before you engage an enemy in combat, you have the option of using strategic spells to weaken an enemy or boost yourself or a team-mate with power/stamina/defense boosts.

Spell Focus
You can find your strategic spells and focus bar at the bottom of the chamber.

To use a strategic spell, you need to build up your focus meter. Strategic spells cost focus to use; although some can be used with no focus built up at all.

The focus bar can be replenished by casting spells and defeating enemies.

Potions

As well as strategic spells, you can also activate any potions you want to use from this screen. You can also activate potions during the battle too (see further down).

Using a potion can help you take down your enemies easier if you need some help. Once you click on the potions icon (bottom right), each potion will tell you how it can be used in battle.

Fortress Enemies

When you (and your team if you’re not playing solo) enter a fortress, you will be faced with a number of enemies on the fortress chamber screen.

These enemies will range in difficulty depending on the enemies level, the enemies type, and your profession.

Fortress Enemy
Various enemies await you inside a fortress chamber.

Some enemies will be strong against you, neutral against you and weak against you depending on which profession you are.

The number of enemies you will have to face will vary depending on difficulty level. The number of you enemies you have to face to complete the chamber will appear in the top right corner.

There are four different types of enemies you can face in a fortress; Dark Forces, Curiosities, Beasts, and Neutral.

Defeating Fortress Enemies

That’s the pre-battle taken care of; now it’s time for combat to commence!

It’s important to note that once you enter a battle, you can leave at any time if you forgot to set a strategic spell, use a potion, picked the wrong enemy etc. Any damage you have already done to your opponent will stay the same.

Fortress Battle
You’re going down, Death Eater!

Attacking and Defending

There are two main features of a fortress battle; attack and defense. You and your opponent will take turns to attack and defend, but there are also times where you’ll be able to attack more than once, and have to defend more than once.

Perform an Attacking Spell

You’ll be prompted to attack when you see the star-like symbol appear, as seen above. To attack, drag your wand down to the symbol and hold it on the symbol until the bar fills up.

Once it fills up, a combat bolt trace will appear on your screen. Trace the combat bolt to perform an attack on your opponent. If you’re lucky, you may get a critical hit, causing more damage!

Perform a Defensive Spell

When you see your opponent lunge forward towards you, it’s time to defend yourself! A prompt will appear, warning you that you need to defend yourself against an incoming attack.

Fortress Defense
Trace the symbol to defend.

A Protego trace will appear on your screen. It doesn’t matter if you trace the symbol at the beginning of an attack or just before your opponent attacks, just swipe it and defend!

Fortress Protego
Protego will appear if you were successful.

If successful, you will cast the Protego spell and significantly reduce the damage that is done to you.

The battle will go back and forth until you hopefully defeat your enemy! If you feel like you’re struggling, you have the option to use potions during the battle aid your cause via the potions icon.

Also, remember to keep an eye on the countdown timer at the top of the screen. You have the time stated to complete the chamber!

Wizards Unite Fortress Rewards

When you (and any team-mates) have completed the chamber, you will receive your victory rewards.

Fortress Rewards
The rewards you get will vary depending on fortress floor level and the runestone used.

Wizards Unite Fortress Guide: Tips & Tricks

Here are some tips and tricks for getting the most out of your Fortress battles.

  • If you’re planning several Fortress battles in a row, activate a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir and double your XP gain.
  • If you’re playing as a team with other players, try and have a mix of professions so you can each target enemies that you are strong against.
  • If you’re out of combat and waiting for a team-mate, use your strategic spells to help them defeat their enemy.
  • Try and have a stock of potions before you attempt a harder level in a Fortress; you may need them!

We hope this Wizards Unite Fortress Guide will help you on your journey in the Wizarding World! Have we missed something? Contact us and let us know!

Wizards Unite Portkey Portmanteau Guide

Welcome, fellow wizard, to our Wizards Unite Portkey Portmanteau Guide!

This guide will teach you all about Portkeys and Portmanteaus; including where to find them, how to open them and the best time to open them.

If you’re brand new to the game, we would recommend checking out our beginners guide to get yourself familiar with the games features before diving into our more detailed articles.

Portkeys and Portmanteaus

Portmanteaus are special items within Wizards Unite that require you to walk a certain distance to unlock them; similar to how the egg system works in Pokemon Go.

Once you have unlocked the Portmanteau, an AR (augmented reality) encounter can be activated via a Portkey.

Portmanteaus come in three different ranges; 2km, 5km and 10km. The longer the distance you have to walk, the better the rewards will be when you open it.

During special events, such as the Fantastic Flora and Fauna event, 7km Portmanteaus are also available.

How to Find Portkey Portmanteaus

Portmanteaus can be found by looking at your Wizards Unite map as you walk around. They will randomly spawn, and you have to tap them on your screen to collect them and add them to your Portkeys section.

Currently, you are unable to tell what kind of Portmanteau is spawning by looking at the map, as they all look the same. Treat it as a surprise!

Portkey List
Portkeys come in a range of distances with a range of rewards.

Once you click on the Portmanteau, it will reveal which distance you have collected. A Prized Portkey Portmanteau is 2km, a Precious Portkey Portmanteau is 5km and a Paramount Portkey Portmanteau is 10km.

You can only carry 8 Portkey Portmanteaus at any one time; if you have 8 in your inventory, new ones will not spawn on your map.

How to Unlock a Portkey Portmanteau

Portkey Portmanteaus are stored within your suitcase in the Portkeys section. Here you will find the Portkey Portmanteaus you currently own and the distance they have been walked so far.

Precious Portkey Portmanteau
The “Precious” Portkey Portmanteau needs to be walked 5km to unlock.

To start unlocking a Portkey Portmanteau, you need to use either your Golden Key or a Silver Key.

Your Golden Key can be used an infinite amount of times. Silver Keys can only be used once. If you do not have any silver keys, you can purchase one for 90 gold.

Silver Keys can also be obtained by returning foundables (random reward) and by levelling up.

How to Activate a Portkey Portmanteau

Once you have walked the required distance, a popup will appear in game informing you that your Portkey Portmanteau is unlocked and ready to use.

Portkey Completed
A Portkey will appear when the distance required is complete.

The game will only count distance towards your Portkey Portmanteau when the game is open. Head over to your Portkeys section and select one that has unlocked and is ready to activate.

It is important to make sure that you are in a large, safe space before travelling with a Portkey. You are required to walk forwards and look around with your phone, so make sure you are safe!

Entering a Portkey Portmanteau

When you are ready to do so and it is safe to do so, tap Use Now to travel. You will be required to search the ground for traces of magic using AR mode.

Search around with your phone and, when prompted, place the portkey in a safe spot on the ground. You can then walk forward and enter a special location from the Wizarding World!

Completing a Portkey Portmanteau

Once you enter your special location, you will need to find 5 Wrackspurts to complete the task. You’ll spot golden balls of light glowing around the room; these are what you’re looking for!

Portkey Portmanteau Wrackspurt
Look around the location for Wrackspurts (can you tell what this location is?)

Each one will contain a different reward, such as XP or potion ingredients. Finding the same Wrackspurt more than once will activate a bonus.

Portkeys can only be entered once, so make sure you don’t leave accidentally before completing it! Once the Portkey has been entered and the task completed, you will get a roundup screen of everything you earned.

Portkey Portmanteau Rewards
You will receive a variety of rewards for completion!

Tips and Tricks

We would recommend the following tips and tricks when using Portkey Portmanteaus.

  • Try and use Silver Keys for 5km and 10km distances only. You will get the most value out of your keys by only using the Golden Key for 2km distances.
  • Always make sure you have the Golden Key in use; not using it wastes time and a space!
  • Portkey Portmanteaus will not spawn while your 8 allocated slots are full.
  • Portkey Portmanteaus can not be deleted.
  • Try and save up as many completed Portmanteaus as you can, and activate a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir potion before opening them. Whatever XP you receive will be doubled!

We hope this Wizards Unite Portkey Portmanteau Guide will help you on your journey in the Wizarding World! Have we missed something? Contact us and let us know!

Wizards Unite Spells Guide: Managing Spell Energy

Spell Energy is extremely important in Wizards Unite; without spell energy, you can’t take on fortresses, take on trace encounters or contribute to ingredient growth in greenhouses. It needs to be managed wisely.

Keep Some Spell Energy In Reserve

We would recommend keeping at least 10 spell energy in reserve for rare traces that may pop up on your map; rarer traces can be spotted by looking for a glowing light coming from the sky, from yellow to red for more severe/emergency traces.

Rare Trace
A glowing coloured light indicates a rare trace.

Upgrade Your Spell Energy Capacity

When you begin the game, you have a 75 spell energy capacity. This can be increased by spending 150 gold from the in-game shop, Diagon Alley. We highly recommended increasing your capacity whenever you can.

If you are fortunate enough to be in an area where you have plenty of Inns and Greenhouses, you will find that you can acquire spell energy much quicker now that Niantic have increased the amount given.

Having a spell energy capacity of 75 will see you max out your capacity quicker, thus missing out on spell energy you can get from Inns and Greenhouses and keep with a bigger capacity.

Wizards Unite Spells Guide: Where To Find Spell Energy

If you are super active on the game, and inparticular fight fortresses often, you will find that you can burn through spell energy very quickly.

Even some trace encounters can deplete your energy reserve fast if the confoundable is stubborn!

Wizards Unite Confoundable Resisted
Some confoundables can be tricky to take out, especially rarer ones.

Replenishing your spell energy whenever you can is important. You can re-stock your spell energy supply in the following ways.

Inns

Visiting and dining at an Inn is the best way to acquire spell energy. You can acquire as much as 10 spell energy in one Inn visit, depending on the type of Inn you visit and the food you receive.

There are currently 5 different types of Inns in Wizards Unite:

Inn Type

Found In

Green Inn
Rural areas (better rewards)
Purple Inn
City areas
Blue Inn
Mixed areas
Brown Inn
Mixed areas
Pink Inn
Mixed areas (lower rewards)

You can spot the type of Inn you’re near by looking at the colour of the roof. Which food and the amount of energy you will receive depends on the type of Inn you are dining at.

There are currently 10 different types of food you can receive at Inns, each giving a different amount of energy:

Inn Type

Energy Received

Tomato Soup
1
Afternoon Tea
2
Bertie Bott's
2
Pumpkin Juice
2
Violet Pudding
3
Bangers and Mash
5
Fish and Chips
6
Honeyduke's Chocolate Bar
6
Butterbeer
7
Chicken/Turkey Dinner
10

You can replenish your reserves at an Inn every 5 minutes. There is a countdown timer shown when entering an Inn, and you can also spot which Inn you have visited by smoke coming out of it’s chimney.

Greenhouses

Visiting a Greenhouse will not only allow you to grow ingredients for potions, but can also reward you will spell energy too.

A visit to a Greenhouse can reward you with 4 spell energy; this is random though, so is not guaranteed on every visit.

Like Inns, Greenhouses also have a 5 minute cooldown period.

Daily Assignments

You can also receive spell energy by completing a certain daily assignment. On your daily assignment list, you will find a task that requires you to ‘walk 0.25km’.

This should be almost impossible to not achieve, and will reward you with 10 spell energy. You will receive this reward even if you have reached your spell energy capacity limit.

Wizards Unite Assignments Guide; Tasks and Rewards

Welcome, fellow wizard, to our Wizards Unite Assignments Guide!

This guide will teach you all about the various assignments within Wizards Unite, plus give you information on the rewards you can receive once you have completed them.

If you’re brand new to the game, we would recommend checking out our beginners guide to get yourself familiar with the games features before diving into our more detailed articles.

Wizards Unite Assignments

Assignments Assignments are sets tasks that, when completed, will reward you with items such as XP, potion ingredients and spell energy. There are currently four different categories for assignments in the game.

Daily Assignments

Daily assignments are self-explanatory; they are a set of tasks that you can complete every day. The game will set you 7 tasks to complete which, as of writing, appear to be the same tasks each day:

TASK

REWARD

Return 10 Foundables+1 Exstimulo Potion
Dine at Inns 2 Times+3 Granian Hair
Pick Up 1 Ingredient or Portmanteau on the Map+10 Spell Energy
Brew 1 Potion+2 Spell Scrolls

Completing each task will see you receive the reward listed. These tasks reset at midnight in your timezone.

Daily Treasure

Simply logging in to Wizards Unite each day will also see you rewarded with a Daily Treasure, provided by the Ministry as an appreciation of your commitment in helping to combat the Calamity!

Wizards Unite Daily Treasure
The daily treasure you receive can be anything from potions to spell energy.

The daily treasure resets at midnight in your timezone each day. The reward you receive can be anything from spell energy and potions to XP and gold.

Special Assignments

Special Assignments are currently labelled as ‘coming soon’ on the game. This is because Special Assignments will provide tasks from the Ministry during select times, such as when Events are being held.

Wizards Unite Special Assignments
Special Assignments will feature at events held by Niantic.

Completing the tasks when special assignments are active will likely bring bigger and better rewards because a special event is on. Keep an eye on our news page for when the next Wizards Unite event will be taking place.

SOS Assignments

SOS Assignments are special story-driven tasks. You will work with Constane Pickering of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force to help the Ministry understand more about the calamity and also help them to contain it.

Wizards Unite SOS Assignments
Complete SOS assignments to learn more about the calamity.

You will discover more about how the calamity happened as you complete each task set. Some tasks are completed randomly, such as finding an item from a trace encounter. Some are set tasks you can complete at any time, such as completing a certain number of Wizarding Challenges in Fortresses.

As you complete more and more SOS assignments, you will meet famous characters from the Harry Potter series, such as Hermione Granger and even Harry himself!

Achievements

Achievements are tasks that you will naturally unlock as you play Wizards Unite. They feature tasks from across the whole game; from using potions a certain number of times, to having a certain number of friends on your account.

Wizards Unite Achievements
Achievements will naturally unlock as you play.

Achievements go up in three stages; Bronze, Silver and Gold. Once you have completed a bronze level, the task will remain the same. However, the amount of times you will have to perform a task will increase the higher the stage is.

It is possible to focus on completing these tasks, but we suggest just playing the game naturally. You will perform the tasks required to unlock achievements on a regular basis, so you will unlock these naturally with regular play.

Once unlocked, achievements will reward you with a variety of items, including gold and XP, plus some achievements come with special badges and titles for your Ministry ID.
